Polygon Block Explorer

Understanding Polygon Blocks

Each block on the Polygon PoS chain is produced by one of 100 active validators and contains a batch of confirmed transactions. Blocks are generated approximately every 2 seconds, resulting in roughly 43,200 blocks per day. Our block explorer streams new blocks live as they are added to the chain.

Block Details Explained

Each block detail page shows the block height (sequential number), the timestamp, the validator who produced it, the total gas used versus the gas limit, the number of transactions included, and the block hash. You can also see the parent block hash, which forms the cryptographic chain linking all blocks together.

Gas Usage and Block Capacity

Polygon PoS blocks have a gas limit that caps the computational work that can be included in a single block. When network activity is high, blocks fill close to the gas limit and the base fee rises. Our gas chart shows historical block utilization and helps you choose the right gas price to ensure timely confirmation.

Validator Performance

Polygon PoS uses a Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism with 100 validators securing the network. Our validator page tracks uptime, total blocks produced, total stake, and commission rates, helping delegators make informed staking decisions.

Polygon zkEVM Blocks

In addition to the PoS chain, our explorer also covers Polygon zkEVM—a zero-knowledge rollup that posts transaction batches to Ethereum. zkEVM blocks benefit from Ethereum-level security while achieving much lower fees. You can explore zkEVM blocks, batches, and L2-to-L1 finalization proofs from the same unified interface.
